NYC Itinerary: Sept 21-25, 2023
Who Went: 2 adult couples from LA
Purpose: To explore NYC for a long weekend, eat at great restaurants, explore museums, and go to a couple of shows. All the restaurants and tickets to shows and museums were arranged ahead of time. The itinerary below shows all the scheduled events, and in between those they had time to wander and explore.
THURSDAY, 9/21
21:30: Couple 1 at dinner at Dame, 87 MacDougal St. (929) 367-7370 – Amazing
22:20: Couple 2 ate late dinner at Blue Ribbon Brasserie
which serves food until 2 am and is where restaurant staff go after closing. Terrific spot!
FRIDAY, 9/22
11:00: Tickets to Whitney Museum, 99 Gansevoort St., (212) 570-3600
Walked to new park on West Side at Little Island Park
which is right on the water – a ‘floating’ island you can walk around.
13:00 : Walk to lunch at Market 57, 25 11th Ave. James Beard Food Hall. Lots of great restaurant stalls. Famous Dim Sum and noodles at Nom Wah, delicious spicy indian food at Ammi
20:30: Dinner at Le Bernardin, 787 Seventh Ave., (212) 554-1515. Highly anticipated this special meal at the 3-star Michelin restaurant. It was a little tired and in need of a reboot for the price.
SATURDAY, 9/23
11:00: Tickets to MOMA,11 W. 53rd St., (212)708-9400: Ruscha exhibit was terrific
13:00: Lunch at The Bar Room at The Modern, 9 W. 53rd St., (212) 333-1220 – great buzzy space for lunch. It has a nice patio with sculptures but it was raining the day we were there!
18:00: Drinks/Dinner at Aldo Sohm, 151 W 51st., (212) 554-1143- cool bar and not super loud, great to meet up with friends for a drink.
20:00: Merrily We Roll Along, The Hudson Theater, 141 W. 44th St. Highly recommend!
SUNDAY, 9/24
11:00: Brunch at The Waverly Inn16 Bank St, (917) 828-1154 – famous old spot in the Village owned by Graydon Carter
14:00: Tour of 9/11 Memorial and Museum. A must-see if you haven’t been before. Book ahead.
15:00: Sweeney Todd, Lunt-Fontaine Theater, 205 W. 46th St., (212) 575-9200
18:00 pm: drinks with friends
20:00: Dinner at Le Coucou, 138 Lafayette St., (212) 271-4252 Delicious and beautiful setting. On the pricey side but every dish was perfect.
Friday
Took the 4:00 Jet Blue flight into JFK, arriving at 12:25 am.
Saturday
Easy morning, up, take obligatory photos with New York skyline!
Breakfast near apartment
Walk the High Line
1:30 Free entry tickets to The Vessel at Hudson Yards to see latest NY architecture
Lunch at Fuku Chicken and biscuit place
Food at Mercado Little Spain as well
Visit to Chelsea Market
MOMA visit to check out the new wing!
Dinner at Butter Midtown where Gossip Girl likes to go for birthday dinners!
Sunday
Breakfast near apartment
10 am head down town
Ride the Seaglass Carousel
Noon ferry to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Immigration Center
Lunch at visitor center
Visit to Dylan’s Candy Bar
Shopping at Brandy Melville
Penn Station stop to pick up a cousin
Dinner at Pietro Nolita in Nolita/Soho – It’s an ALL PINK restaurant! Hot!
Monday
11:00 am brunch/lunch at Blacktap Midtown – fun burger/milkshake spot
Central Park carriage ride!
Walk around Times Square
Light dinner at Serafina Italian restaurant in Times Square
8:00 pm Musical: Chicago
Dessert back at Blacktap (milkshakes with pieces of cake on top!)
Tuesday
Breakfast near apartment
Ride NY subway to Little Italy and SOHO for browsing/shopping/pizza
Take a mini tour of NYU/Villlage
Go wherever else the girls want to go!
4 pm flight from Newark Airport –> arrive SFO at 10:40 pm
